Some ascribe the gender of our Serjeants to aesthetics. But I think that the matter is due much more to genetics. For if a Serjeant's chromosomes are labeled X and Y, The Court will have another Serjeant who's a guy. But if the pair of genes are homozygous letter X, The Serjeanti at issue will be of the fairer sex.
