The Flying Tomaro Strikes Gold
LITTLE ITALY, Ohio—With a flaming mane of hair and "Dumbo" ears, Chagrin Falls’ Flying Tomaro easily won the men’s halfpipe at Little Italy’s Winter Games yesterday. "Smoking a pipe on a snowboard is not for the young," the winner acknowledged yesterday, following his harrowing trip down Cedar Hill. When a cold winter wind extinguished his corncob in the qualifiers, the Flying Tomaro barely made it to the final heat. But he then switched to a meerschaum and used his ears to block the wind in a trademark move that created loft, lifting his snowboard above the pavement (hence the nickname). As luck would have it, the maneuver also produced enough serious sparks to ignite his hair. When asked if the gold medal earned by the flaming mane was worth the pain of a singed scalp, Tomaro assured reporters that the halfpipe was much safer than quail hunting with Dick Cheney. When asked if he had any words of encouragement for the Court’s own Evel Knievel, Judge Ziegler said, "yes." Next Dinner Committee Meeting |
